Passionate about food from a young age, Nelson would often be found baking in the kitchen with his Nan. Upon leaving school Nelson decided to turn his love of food into a career and trained to become a chef at Stratford-upon-Avon College. He later went on to work at Claridge’s Hotel in London. There, he mastered a variety of classic and modern techniques in fine dining which he has utilised in his 15 years within the industry.
A few years back, Nelson’s passion for fine-dining broadened and he decided to turn his hand to baking. In his spare time, Nelson taught himself the art of bread making and began selling his bread to a small pocket of local customers. After many requests for recipes and guidance on how to make the breads, he decided to set up his first artisan bread course.
Following great success, ‘Nelson’s Artisan School’ was founded and we have enjoyed two years of inspiring budding bakers in our local town, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. Since excelling in our first two years we have now moved to our new home based in Alcester. We offer varying bread courses - to suit the beginner or advanced baker, pastry courses and courses for children aged 7- 14 years. Thank you Nelson for an absolutely brilliant day, I still can’t believe how much we covered and how many gorgeous goodies I had to take home with me. I learned so much from the course being so ‘hands on’ with the dough, there really isn’t any substitute to actually feeling the dough and handling it. The structure of the course was first class, from the small group to watching and working with you, mixing, shaping and finally baking my very own bread and pastries.
I still use the recipes in the course material provided and I cannot thank you enough for the ongoing support you have given to us all via the WhatsApp Group you set up for all attendees. I eagerly await another opportunity to join another of your classes to continue my baking journey.

I first met Nelson after I spotted "Learn to make bread using sourdough" in my Twitter feed. It sounded like a fun way to spend a Sunday. The workshop was a really packed day and great fun. Nelson's patience and expert tuition were fantastic. I went home with my precious sourdough starter and armfuls of baked goodies to share with my family. It was a fantastic foundation and inspired me to continue baking regularly. The post-workshop support is great too for those times you need to ask an expert.
